CEEV’s General Assembly elects new President, new Board of Administrators and welcomes the European Vinegars Association as a new member

Brussels, 20 March 2025 – During its General Assembly meeting taking place on 20 March, in Brussels, CEEV elected a new Board of Administrator, including a new President for a 3-year mandate. The new Board is composed as follows:

  • Pedro Pereira Gonçalves (ACIBEV – Associação de Vinhos e Espirituosas de Portugal, Portugal)
• Treasurer
  • Jérôme Perchet (FFVA – Fédération Française des Vins d’Apéritif, France)
• Members of the Board
  • Pedro Ferrer (FEV – Federación Española del Vino, Spain)
  • Piero Mastroberardino (FEDERVINI – Federazione Italiana Industriali Produttori, Esportatori ed Importatori di Vini, Vini Spumanti, Aperitivi, Acquaviti, Liquori, Sciroppi, Aceti e Affini, Italy)
  • Michel Chapoutier (UMVIN – Union des Maisons et Marques de Vins, France)
  • José Ramón Fernández (GLEVE – Groupe de Liaison des Entreprises Vinicoles Européennes)

Succeeding Mauricio González-Gordon, newly-elected CEEV President Marzia Varvaglione, from Varvaglione 1921, said: “As we navigate one of the most challenging periods in decades, it is more important than ever for the wine sector to stand united. Together with the CEEV team and our members, I am fully committed to guiding our sector through these difficult times and overcoming the challenges ahead during my presidency.”

Mauricio Gonzalez-Gordon said: “At the time of completing my term as president, I want to express my recognition to the team and members of CEEV for their continued and united support to wine, while welcoming the appointment of Marzia Varvaglione as new president. She will no doubt bring a new impulse to wine defence, as a very relevant part of our culture and economy.”

This General Assembly meeting was also the occasion for CEEV to welcome a new member and a new wine-related sector among its ranks: the European Vinegar Association. The President of the European Vinegar Association, Valery Brabant, said: “As the voice of the vinegar producers, we are delighted to become a member of CEEV and to join forces to in contributing to forward-looking EU policies that benefit consumers, the wine and vinegar sectors and society at large.”

“We are delighted to welcome the vinegar sector into the CEEV family, with whom we share so many characteristics, including our precious wines,” said Ignacio Sánchez Recarte, Secretary General of CEEV. “I would like to extend my gratitude to Mauricio González-Gordon for his outstanding service as President of CEEV. Looking ahead, with this strengthened membership and under the leadership of Marzia Varvaglione, we are ready to face the future with confidence,” he added.
